
Endako Mines is proactive in their approach to safety. With 33 Occupational First Aid Level III attendants and 38 British Columbia Open Pit Mine Rescue personnel on site representing 13% and 15% respectively ensure the utmost of safety in the event of an emergency at the mine. These numbers insure that a minimum of 2 OFA Level III attendants and 4 Mine Rescue members are available on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, the Endako Mines Mine Rescue Team competed at the 2004 Northern Zone Mine Rescue Competition held in Fernie BC. The Endako team advanced onto the 2004 BC Provincial Competition and won the Rope task at both the Zone & Provincial competitions Endako Mines finished fourth in the 2004 competition four points behind second and ½ a point behind third.
Our thorough training guidelines see that all employees are qualified and trained on stationary, mobile or hand held equipment or tools before they are authorized to operate them. Comprehensive safety orientation is compulsory for all full time, part time and contractors employees. Our computer based WHMIS Programme is mandatory before any new employee commences work and must achieve a minimum 80% on the final exam.

Industrial hygiene is of utmost importance with measuring of air quality, noise and light dosimetry, audiometric evaluation and respirator fit testing. The OHSC, Occupational Heath Safety Committee, comprised of 16 hourly employees and meets on an monthly basis. These meetings involve reviewing; Accident Incident Investigations, Facility Inspection Reports, Mines Inspector Reports and training requirements.
